Humanity has vanished and left Rand Carter to survive utterly alone in an abandoned world, that is until he discovers survivor Elsie Clay. Problem is, she's stranded on the International Space Station, perilously close to starvation. Finding a way to save her is only the beginning as their quest for answers leads them down a trail where conspiracy theories and quantum physics converge. They are forced to choose between the desire to return to normal life in their own time or stay in their new world and fan the flames of their growing love for each other.
