Although there is a strict "no pet" rule at home, Pete earns his nickname, the Piper, from all the furred and feathers friends who happily follow him anywhere. There are foul mouthed birds and poor neglected dogs desperately needing homes. Pete wants to save them all. But how can he? Things are going so badly at home that the cupboards are bare! Despite everything, Pete is determined to help everyone. His ideas are very different and the results are often strange but Pete continues to try.
