Question of Identity: A Gripping Psychological Thriller of a Killer with No Past

How do you catch a killer who doesn't exist?

In the quiet cathedral town of Lafferton, a series of brutal murders terrorizes the elderly, living alone in a serene housing community. The killer's signature is chillingly familiar to DCS Simon Serrailler--it belongs to a suspect who walked free ten years ago.

Acquitted on a technicality, the man was given a new identity and disappeared without a trace. Now, Serrailler must hunt for a killer who officially ceased to exist, challenging the very notion of identity and justice.

A gripping psychological thriller for fans of Ruth Rendell and P.D. James.

In the seventh installment of Susan Hill's acclaimed British series, the hunt for a phantom killer forces the team to confront their limits:

• The hunt for a ghost: Serrailler and his team face a killer with no digital footprint, no paper trail, and no known whereabouts.
• A town in fear: The residents of Lafferton are gripped by a quiet terror as the body count rises and the killer continues to elude the police.
• The true cost of a new identity: This suspenseful mystery explores what truly defines a person and whether a name can truly wipe away a past marked by violence.

Richly atmospheric and psychologically complex, A Question of Identity is a chilling reminder that some ghosts never truly disappear.
