India, 1984.The Indian government quarantines Amritsar and enforces a total media blackout to prepare for an assault against 'separatists' taking refuge in the Golden Temple--the most sacred temple of the Sikhs. They choose a religious anniversary to attack. The temple and Amritsar are crowded with the most devout pilgrims from all over India. They attack the Golden Temple with more than 65 000 soldiers to exterminate less than 150 'separatists'. An entire generation is wiped out. After the attack, the government keeps the temple closed for months to clean up the carnage. They continue to enforce the media blackout. During this time they incinerate the Sikh Library and loot religious artifacts. An entire history is erased. During this time mothers and daughters march toward the Golden Temple wearing black to protest the incarceration of children and teenagers. Protesters are systematically arrested, tortured and disappeared by the Indian police as 'separatists'. An entire people begin to disappear.
