Coral Island

R.M. Ballantyne's classic 'The Coral Island' may have moved William Golding to write his Hobbesian 'Lord of the Flies' novel as a sardonic response, but the story still has the power to captivate and will appeal to fans of 'Robinson Crusoe' or 'The Swiss Family Robinson'. It tells the story of three boys shipwrecked on a Polynesian island, and the ways in which they cope with the dangers and hardships of their new situation.
