I've written this book for Laura Campanelli. Through the years numerous people suggested that she put her extraordinary life story on paper, she never found the time. Laura and I were the best of friends. We were soul mates, confidants, business partners, buddies, sweethearts, and life partners for almost twenty years. The words I write are from Laura's own stories that she shared with me during our life together. Included are stories from her family and friends. My main purpose is to convey the extraordinary life of one woman, who, as a small child at the age of thirteen months, was slapped in the face with one medical problem after another. As she grew older, she always saw the light at the end of the long tunnel as being another God given, glorious day to share with others. Not only do I want the world to know who this extraordinary woman was - I want to express how in spite of the odds, she never ever gave up the hope that she could overcome anything... be it disease, one surgical procedure after another, a scarred body, chemotherapy, radiation, or heartache. Nothing deterred Laura from living her life on her terms. As you read this book I hope you can feel her wisdom, her desire to fight and never give up, her love for laughter and most of all, her love for the unbelievable life she was given. She was a true mentor for many and wasted no time with the nay-sayers. Laura had a life to live and that is just what she did. She chose her friends very carefully. Those who wanted Laura's friendship had to earn it. Her glass was always half full, NEVER half empty.
