Return of Criticism

The Return of Criticism is an original collection of Chinese literary scenes based on a long period of literary history and a holistic view of literature by the renowned Chinese critic He Ping.

Adhering to the tradition of taking root in the literary scene and participating in literary production and the construction of literary history, He Ping presents this milestone work in Chinese literary criticism in his unique style. The two sections of The Return of Criticism respectively display He Ping's exploration and reflection on Chinese literature as a whole in the era of reform and opening up, especially in the twenty years of the new century; and a private literary archive featuring his thirty general reviews of the Flower City Interest on typical and essential topics in Chinese literature from 2017 to 2021, such as youth writing, genre fictions, use of artificial intelligence, and employment of multi-subject, among others.
