Way We Move

Our world has become more accessible by all kinds of people. In this story, a boy admits that he was apprehensive about befriending a classmate who moved around using a wheelchair. After the boy injures himself, he begins to reflect on the ways different people move: on crutches, with wheelchairs, with the use of prosthetic arms and legs, etc. He comes to realize that we are all the same, regardless of the method we use to move. This is a wonderful story to share with children so that a discussion can be had about differences and similarities; about acceptance and friendships. With so many of our brave soldiers coming home with life-altering injuries, this story is timely and relevant. Share this book with your favorite children.
