Kirkman's fascination with the daily painting movement, combined with her propensity for portraiture as a genre, created the direction of this new series of miniature bovine 'portraits'. This second volume, when compared to the first, certainly shows Kirkman's advancement in style, technique and handling of the pastel medium, and includes a special end note about the artist's philosophy on daily painting and working in a series.
