War on Cancer: a journey through cancer research

'War on Cancer' is a collection of pictures taken from cancer patient specimens that were carefully stained for scientific purposes. As a picture is worth a thousand words, these profound images tell a war story of the epic battle between cancer and the human immune system. The images are woven together with a conversation about medical research trials and tribulations. The memories and events described here took place between the years 1992 and 2006 and the settings were in medical school teaching hospitals where teams of scientists were engaged in cutting edge research on the cancer battlefield. This tragically inspired work was compiled with the intention of presenting an artistic statement about the human immune system and its involvement with the cancer process. Many of the images presented here depict actual front line battle scenes between the immune system and tumor cells.
