Poems For Skaneateles - Thayer Park Sessions is a gift book for friends and visitors of Skaneateles Lake and Village. It is a book of 18 poems, photos and narrative that tells a story of Skaneateles Lake and Village. Did you visit Skaneateles and wish you had explored a little deeper? This book will give you a subtle glimpse of this unique place. Content is ideal for travel and nature enthusiasts of all ages. Poem subject matter is based on topics of nature and community, and has a little science and mysticism sprinkled on top. The book combines literary work into an artisan craft for Skaneateles, New York travelers. Poems and photos were created during my 2013 project called the Thayer Park Sessions. The book is laid out in three sections. First is the introduction, which is followed by the poems and finally the photo narrative section. Each poem and corresponding photo is laid out on facing pages. The poems are also suitable for grandchildren and a wonderful way to foster discussion and share the story of the community. The majority of the poems were drafted in Thayer Park but there were three notable exceptions. Route 41 Ride was written at the photo location while sitting at one of the picnic tables. Mary was written at the photo location while sitting on the shrine's bench. Haiku was written at Creekside Books and Coffee, while sipping coffee at a café table. Haiku was also the last poem to be written. The photo narrative provides details about each photo. Some photos came easy while other took repeated trips to capture the desired essence. Poem photos were selected and matched during the editing phase of the book. Finally, the author's note share a little humor regarding the Skaneateles name.
