Head

Racked with guilt over a car accident that has left his wife Gloria horribly disfigured, Daniel is confronted at all moments by the call of the flesh and his duty as a husband. Enter Ezekiel, his insane brother, who has designed a machine that solves the mind-body dilemma with gruesome simplicity. A science fiction tale of rare intensity and biblical undertones, and a erotic novel all rolled into one. At times funny, sexy, disturbing and eye-opening. This is Cabiya at his very best. Published in English for the first time in a wonderful translation by Daniela Paiewonsky."Cabiya weaves, via a formidable fusion of the erotic novel and the science fiction tale, a plot (as sordid as it is irresistible) around sexual desire and its alibis in this ciber-melancholic era of the virtual body. Casual, unfazed, armed with the exquisite cruelty that characterizes his supple and meticulous prose, this short novel proves once more that we are dealing with one of the most original and capable storytellers of the Caribbean."Rubén Ríos Ávila
