Alpine Knitting has been part of my life since early childhood. Being taught how to knit by my grandmother in rural Austria in the early 1980ies, the lovely stitch patterns originating in the Alps have always fascinated me. Typical Alpine Dirndl dresses tell us lots about the wearer - like, which region she comes from and if she's married or not - and also the socks and stockings worn in traditional Alpine clothing tell details about the wearer.
