Young boys, especially urban inner-city African American black boys, are often classified special education because of poor behavior. When in fact, they may not need to be special education at all. Too many students are being referred to the child study for special education classification evaluations for learning and emotional disabilities. This book gives classroom management techniques as well as suggestions for improved lesson plans. Included is a detailed discussion on the steps of a lesson and how using the steps of a lesson will engage all students. There is also a chapter on the special education students including inclusion, behavioral contracts, special education procedures and making the classroom conducive to learning for all students.
