Resume of a Male Nurse

A male in the nursing profession is always in the minority. For William Knight, his status as a male nurse opened the door to persecution he never expected. Prejudice, false accusations, and wrongful termination eventually led him to doubt the entire medical establishment, from his fellow nurses to renowned doctors to hospital administration. Through years of workplace tribulation, however, Knight never doubted the supremacy of patient rights and his own responsibility to stand up for those under his care.

Knight found his way into nursing in a roundabout way. An unfortunate brush with the legal system ended a promising career in transportation and had Knight looking for new options. He entered nursing with great intentions and a desire to serve, but reality quickly dashed his hopes for a fulfilling professional life. He witnessed heartbreaking negligence on the part of his colleagues, but when he stood up for helpless patients, backstabbing and rumormongering derailed him. As Knight struggled to rectify his own good intentions with the deceit around him, his dedication to the helpless only increased.
