Power of the Spoken Word

The Power of the Spoken Word presents Florence Scovel Shinn's teaching on affirmation, spiritual law, and the formative influence of speech upon experience.

In this concise yet concentrated work, Shinn develops the principle that words are not merely descriptive but creative. Drawing upon biblical interpretation and the New Thought tradition, she argues that spoken declarations shape outward circumstance through alignment with spiritual law. Fearful or negative speech, in her view, perpetuates limitation; disciplined affirmation opens the way to harmony, health, and provision.

Written in Shinn's characteristic direct and lucid style, the book emphasizes clarity of intention and unwavering confidence in divine order. Rather than offering abstract philosophy alone, she presents practical examples illustrating how speech, expectation, and belief interrelate. The work stands as a natural complement to her earlier volumes, including The Game of Life and How to Play It and Your Word Is Your Wand, forming part of a coherent body of early twentieth-century prosperity spirituality.

This Sublime Books edition presents the complete text in its original form, preserving Shinn's structure and language.
