My First Murder

From the author of Circle of Five, the Cass Shipton Adventures and The Ghost Who Came Home from the Auction, a new novel of suspense. In the midst of World War II, a resourceful family confronts small town intrigue and unsuspected villainy.

Murder on the Home Front!

The time is 1943, and there's a war on! When clever, plucky 13-year-old Amelia Byrd finds a 30-year old love letter, her discovery begins a chain of events leading to the murder of Winston Snow, an elderly gentleman who has befriended her Aunt Bette. And only Amelia knows who the murderer is! But if she reveals his crime, her own family may be implicated.

Torn between loyalty and justice, Amelia decides to keep secret this dark glimpse into the adult world--not an easy matter in Whitford, a pleasant New England town full of eccentric busybodies. But Amelia is constantly reminded that "loose lips sink ships," as the popular poster proclaims.

The murderer tries to silence the girl in one terrifying accident after another. With some heart-pounding close calls, Amelia dodges these deadly traps until a final confrontation brings her whole family into peril.
