Great and the Small

Jan McCarthy's charming and intelligent first novel is an exciting blend of genres - from romance to suspense. She manages to approach the hot topics of our day: politics, relationships, lifestyle choice, climate change and personal security without letting go of the humour and absurdity of human existence. Her characters are warm, adventurous and distinctive, and she is an expert at drawing the reader into her world of humans and gnomes, where men and women must learn to walk more humbly - and to have a lot more fun!
