A few times in our lives, we find that we are swept away, because the impact of a specific and rare event changes everything. There are the moments that are so unexpected you look back, and see your life as you live it "before" the moment and "after" that moment. This was one. I sat impaled by his words - attempting composure. I sat transfixed as my mind tried to grasp the "news" he had unveiled. The confidence and optimism I held tightly to, deflated like an over-filled balloon. I had wrapped my butterfly wings around my injured chrysalis, protecting her from anyone who would try and invade her space until she was (again) ready to spread her wings and fly.
