A MIDDLE-AGED clinical social worker, newly minted as a physician assistant, volunteers as a medical missioner with a renowned, progressive mission group. Freed of house and job, her children grown, she is determined to live her delayed dream of practicing medicine in a foreign country.

Bringing her typical anxiety and conscientious outlook to the endeavor in a village in the Andes Mountains of Peru, she makes her way. But stepping outside of her life, having all that is familiar fall away, she finds herself confronting her relationship with God and struggling to find her true self.
