Lake Bluff, Illinois

Commemorates Lake Bluff's 125th anniversary, tracing its evolution from a summer resort to a thriving, patriotic North Shore suburb.

To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Lake Bluff, this book highlights the events and people who developed the growth and success of the community from its waning days as a summer resort on Lake Michigan to its current prominence as a popular North Shore suburb. From its origins as a focal point of the national prohibition movement in the nineteenth century, being acclaimed as "the most patriotic town in America" during World War I, to being listed by Coastal Magazine as the "4th happiest seaside town in the U.S.," this chronicles Lake Bluff's evolution through the last quarter of the 1800s, the ups and downs of the twentieth century, and its current status as a village focused on its superior quality of life for its residents.
