Nevaeh lives with her parents and grandmother in the small town of Balcarres, Jamaica. As an only child, she is under enormous pressure to succeed scholastically, to be the first of her family to go to college and break out of poverty. Nevaeh is desperate to succeed, going to lengths that lead to horrible consequences for her.

After losing her best friend on the peak of the Blue Mountain at the age of seventeen, she withdraws into herself and loses touch with her circle. After college, she meets Rayva, a rich Canadian businessman who sweeps her off her feet and marries her in a lavish ceremony, taking her away, she hopes, from all her troubles.

But all is not as it seems, and gradually Nevaeh's life begins to come apart. She is found, amnesiac, on the shore of Lake Erie. Will she recover her memory in time to be safe from the ones who put her there? Will she find peace for her exhausted soul, and forgiveness for past wrongs? Only time will tell, and time is what she may not have.
