To some

It is the world.

Oblate spheroid of red, crowned

in stars, vined galaxies of juicy perfection.

Add toast, mayonnaise, lettuce, bacon; a feast.

An eyes-closed bite of Heaven, dripping, over the

borders of my mouth, the bread, the plate, leaving me

with the joyful aroma, sublime taste, a wanton desire

for more, and more and more. This queen of

the garden, this multi-chambered heart

of so much flavor: the tomato.
