Sepsis is a condition that occurs when the body's response to infection starts causing injury to its own organs and tissues. It may be life-threatening. The suppression of the immune system is the initial stage of sepsis. Common symptoms of sepsis are increased breathing rate, increased heart rate, fever and confusion.
