Mrs. Dalloway (1925) by Virginia Woolf is touted by Time as one of the top 100 novels in the English language since the magazine's inception in 1923. While in the throes of party planning, protagonist Clarissa Dalloway becomes introspective, reviewing her life choices. Her flashbacks involve the characters who are guests at the party and their separate storylines which evolve throughout the novel. Often compared with James Joyce's Ulysses (1922) this book is for fans of modernism, Woolf's stream of consciousness style, and twentieth century classics.
