Mothers Don't Last

London teenager Daniel Cooper adores his single parent father and would love for him to get remarried. He encourages his father to quit messing around and find him a suitable stepmother, even intervening as a clever matchmaker to move the romance along. Things look promising, however, that won't last.

Before happily ever after can happen, Daniel learns the truth of why he's been motherless his entire life. The revelation fractures his loving relationship with his father and sets him off on a path of self-ruinous behavior. He embarks on his mission to uncover his mother's secrets and learns how they have shaped his life. Meeting her family, who knew nothing of his existence, he cautiously befriends them to gain information about his mother, only to find out they intend to use Daniel to serve their unscrupulous plan.

Narrated by adult Daniel, this is a story of a boy who will make his way into his manhood while trying to understand his world as it falls apart around him. He must find his way back to the person and life he once cherished, but only if he can shed his lingering feelings of resentment and bitterness and bring himself to forgive.
