Tale of Peter Rabbit

While his sisters, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail gather blackberries, Peter rabbit sneaks into Mr. McGregor's garden. His mother has warned them about going there, but the naughty little bunny has to see it for himself. There, in the garden, Peter finds some things are good to eat--but others might eat him! Beatrix Potter wrote the first book of her Tales as an illustrated letter to a young friend. Published in 1902, The Tale of Peter Rabbit was followed by 22 others. These charming stories are best-sellers around the world and have captivated generations of children. As a child, Potter studied art and natural history. Although she grew up in London, she enjoyed spending family holidays in Scotland and the Lake District, where she loved the animals and countryside. The original Peter Rabbit was a household pet.
