About this Series This series, The Mystery of History, is designed to promote self-discovery and admiration within a young child. Just like my grandma did for me; these books bring to life the great civilizations humanity has created from the perspective of a young child. This is the second book in the South African set for children ages three to nine. This volume provides the history of South Africa and its people from the beginning. About these Books The South African set starts with book 1, Zola Discovers South Africa, an overview of the country as a whole. Each of the next three books explore a time period of South African history, giving the child the history of that time period and focusing on human needs in order of hierarchy. Book 2, Zola Discovers South Africa's Beginnings, focuses on the need for food, shelter, and defense. Book 3, Zola Discovers South Africa's Teen Years, focuses on the ability to work together to solve conflicts and to develop workable rules and government.
