If you copy your mind, your memories, your sins...are they still yours?

One winter day, Paddy Riordan met the girl of his dreams. Little did he know then of her aspirations--for immortality.

Ten years later, Paddy is dead, his mind uploaded to a virtual world of light and luxury. But something has gone awry, and a year's worth of memories have been erased from his consciousness. When a mysterious warrior appears with a dire warning, Paddy must sift through what memories he has left to save his mind and the woman he still loves, all while eluding masked assassins, cutting-edge artificial intelligence, and the sinister sorceress Rusalka.

But he'll find no enemy so cruel as the shadow of the past. What he discovers may condemn him to a fate even worse than death.
