Nina Thompson is sixteen and definitely not a witch-so don't even think about calling her one, unless you want to end up with your pants on fire. Things get complicated when her best friend, Richard Anderson, cancels their trip to Lookout Point, so Nina goes by herself. There, she finds a dying wolf named Bullet. Remembering how she once healed Richard as a kid with just a wish and a sharpened number 2 pencil, Nina tries to help Bullet. Instead of healing him, she splits their souls, binding their physical bodies to their ethereal ones. While they wait for help, Nina discovers that Bullet was actually searching for her, marking a turning point in her life and her family's story.
