Anomie

The world never showed Lisle Amonor much love. It seemed instead to take special pleasure grinding him in its gears. On the threshold of middle age, Lisle tries to reconcile himself to his modest lot in life. But when his childhood friend becomes bent on taking revenge against the man who tormented them as schoolmates, Lisle gets dragged into a depraved situation that quickly grows dire and finds himself in jeopardy of losing what little he has.

The story develops into a psychological thriller as a pandemic spread by dogs threatens society and the government demands that Lisle surrender his beloved canine companion Maynard. Lisle is forced to examine the value of all that he holds dear, and weigh his loyalties one against another. How far can a modest man me pushed, and how hard can a moral man push back?
