Queensland Police in the Great War: A Compendium connects life, police and war service histories of men who left the Queensland Police Force active duty to volunteer with the First Australian Imperial Forces. It is a comprehensive reference source featuring short biographies of Queensland police personnel who enlisted to fight in the First World War between 1914 and 1918. It also contains a selection of in-depth life and family stories of these men. Many of them returned from the front and resumed their duties with the Queensland Police; they went on to have long careers, in some cases their children carrying on their policing legacy.
Queensland Police in the Great War began as an award-winning project supported by the Q ANZAC 100: Memories for a New Generation Fellowship, State Library Queensland.
