Kate Gage had a crush on her best friend's brother for most of her childhood, but because of the six-year age gap, he always saw her as just a kid. Until she turned eighteen and he came home between deployments and realized she was all grown up. For a few months, everything was perfect. She was falling in love with the man of her dreams, he loved her back, and when he proposed, she thought she was going to live out her happy ever after. Then she told him she was pregnant, and he abruptly dumped her and told her to get an abortion.

Lion has a regret bigger than signing up for the experimental drug program without realizing what it truly was, and that was dumping the only woman he's ever loved because the anger inside him, caused by the drugs, was putting her in danger. For the last decade, the only part of Kate he's had left to hold onto was the engagement ring she threw back in his face when he ended their relationship and told her to terminate the pregnancy. Until now. Until she shows up unannounced at his team's home with a nine-year-old girl in tow.

Now he'll do whatever it takes to save his daughter's life and win back the love and trust of the woman he loves.
