Over four decades Chris' poems have trapped time as words tumbled onto these pages, captured in the earliest hours of the morning when the noise from the street had faded and the metronomic sound of the clock had dimmed to a background hum. As the pace of change accelerates toward an uncertain future, two things remain constant. Time is a non-renewable resource, and everybody gets the opportunity to discover something for their first time. A moment of discovery is no less intense for us than when it is first seen or thought or experienced by the original adventurer, innovator, author or inventor. There may be nothing new under the sun, but everything is new to everyone at some stage under that same sun for as long as it continues to shine and we exist. Ideas that are neither distant nor profound but relevant and practical to us all remain fresh and vibrant as if they were just written and wrapped in cellophane. For you to unwrap and appreciate as if they were your ideas, which of course they now are.
