Seizure: January 20 - March 14, 2025

On January 20, 2025, Donald J. Trump returned to the presidency. Within hours, the work of remaking the federal government had begun.

The Seizure is the first volume of The Trump Chronicles, a documentary account of the second Trump administration written week by week, action by action, from the inauguration through March 14, 2025. It does not treat those first eight weeks as a blur of outrage. It reads them as a sequence of institutional moves: emergency declarations turned into ordinary governance, inspectors general removed without the notice Congress required, the civil service pressed toward obedience, appropriated funds frozen, prosecutors pressured, federal records deleted, birthright citizenship narrowed by order - and private financial interests moving alongside public power.

Read together, they resolve into a pattern. Democratic government is altered here not by tanks in the streets or a formal suspension of the Constitution, but by the quiet conversion of offices built to serve the public into instruments of presidential control. Each move worked the same way: a signature, an adviser placed inside the office, and action taken before any court could answer.

Written from Brisbane by an American watching his country from the outside, The Seizure pairs urgency with documentary restraint. It names the statutes, offices, and court orders at stake, sets a day-by-day record behind its claims, and reports the convergence of public power and private gain without claiming a crime the record does not prove.

It is for readers who want more than reaction - who want to understand what happened, how it happened, and why the details matter before they vanish into the next news cycle.
