Kazimiera's Shadows

Catherine has come to a small country town in Victoria for peace: a modest farm, a quieter life, and the solitude to write her first novel. Then she meets Kazimiera-a magnetic woman with a haunted past, a dangerous hunger for freedom, and a story too compelling to ignore.

As Kazimiera reveals her childhood in post-war Poland and the murder that shadowed her flight to France, Catherine thinks she has found the raw material for fiction. But the more she listens, the more she suspects she is being pulled into something darker-and far more real.

When Catherine's dog is poisoned, her home is violated, and her animals are attacked, her sanctuary begins to collapse. Every incident seems to lead back to Kazimiera. As a retired family psychologist, Catherine recognises the signs of a fractured mind-but insight may not be enough to save her.

What begins as confession twists into obsession, and Catherine must confront a terrifying question: is she Kazimiera's victim, her witness-or the only person who can stop her?
