Lochinvar

A reckless young soldier. A divided Scotland. A love tested by war, loyalty, and dangerous political intrigue.

Walter "Wat" Gordon of Lochinvar is as renowned for his impulsive courage as for his uncertain affairs of the heart. Serving in the Scottish regiment of the Prince of Orange in Holland, he finds himself caught between rival loyalties during the turbulent final years of the Stuart monarchy. His deepest struggle, however, concerns Kate McGhie, the woman he truly loves-and whose trust his own reputation has made exceedingly difficult to win.

From duels and imprisonment to daring escapes, battles, perilous voyages, and the wild landscapes of Scotland, Wat's adventures carry him through a world where political allegiance can mean life or death and personal loyalty is constantly put to the test. Blending historical romance with fast-moving adventure, S. R. Crockett's Lochinvar is a stirring tale of love and constancy set amid the upheavals of seventeenth-century Scotland, where a celebrated lover and fighter must finally learn the difference between winning a woman's affection and proving himself worthy of it.
