Slugs: Backyard Bugs and Creepy-Crawlies (Engaging Readers, Level 1)

Mosquitoes are tiny flies that have been around since the time of dinosaurs. They live almost everywhere and love warm weather. Some mosquitoes drink flower nectar, but females also drink blood to make eggs. Find out why mosquitoes like some people more than others-and how they help other animals in nature.

Level 1 readers are aimed at children who are starting to recognize common words and are capable of sounding out unfamiliar words. Short, simple sentences help guide the reader through new concepts and ideas.

This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
