We Drive Milk Tankers

As evening comes, the cows on a dairy farm are being milked. Standing by is a milk tanker truck and its driver.

Gallons of milk are loaded onto the truck, then the driver faces a long, nighttime drive to deliver the liquid load to a factory so the milk can be on the supermarket shelves tomorrow.

In this book, meet the men and women who drive milk tankers and learn all about this important and highly skilled job.

• Sit behind the wheel of a tanker truck as it navigates narrow tracks and country lanes to visit farms.
• Discover how computers and a miniature onboard laboratory are used by the driver to test the quality of the milk.
• And join the driver as they unload at a vast plant where the milk is treated and poured into cartons or made into products such as cheese and yogurt.
