Tantric Sexuality: Preliminaries

Tantric sexuality takes place in a tantric couple, between a man and a woman, aware and responsible. Their love helps them to mirror each other, to be completely open. The central aspect in tantra is intimacy, a deep physical, psychological, mental, intellectual and spiritual connection between the two.Intimacy is the sole "environment" where sexual activity could be experienced to be something superior, where its energy will not be "consumed" exclusively in the sexual intercourse. Intimacy facilitates the interaction on all levels, the most fascinating result of this merger being the emergence of a state of completeness through which they could reach a state of fulfillment, a spiritual state of being symbolized in the esoteric texts by the androgynous god Ardhanarishvara (which epitomize the spiritual sense of sexuality).
