"This inspiring collection assembles the ideas of the great thinkers of the West as they wrestle with the hardest problem all of us face: how to flourish individually and together. The short quotes arranged chronologically give their voices poignancy and symphonic power, connecting the reader to humanity's ancient and ongoing search for goodness." Anna Alexandrova, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge
