Working in Art: How to Build a Career in the Art World

How to get a job and make a living in the art industry, from rising art world star Alexandra Steinacker-Clark, creator of the All About Art podcast.

One of the biggest misconceptions about the art industry is that unless you already have wealth and contacts, you have no chance of breaking into this apparently exclusive world.

Alexandra Steinacker-Clark has spent her career pushing back against this idea, and demystifying the art world for those coming in from any background. In 2021, she began the podcast All About Art as a way to meet other professionals working in the sector, to find out what they actually do and discover how they got there. She interviewed artists, gallerists, curators, journalists, critics, auctioneers and many others, exploring a vast array of creative careers beyond the obvious options, and along the way creating a guide to demystifying the art world from the inside.

This book brings together all the invaluable wisdom and guidance from those interviews, and provides practical professional advice and support not only for students or recent graduates, but for anyone at any stage of life wishing to work in the arts.

An essential read for anyone looking to make a career in the art industry.
