History of the Mastiff - Gathered from Sculpture, Pottery, Carvings, Paintings and Engravings; Also

The Mastiff is one of Britain's most ancient breeds, a massive guardian dog known since Roman times. In History of The Mastiff, M. B. Wynn traces the breed from its earliest origins to the modern day.

First published in 1886, it draws on early sources to follow the breed's development, its type and character, and the people who shaped it. It gathers evidence from sculpture, pottery, carvings, paintings and engravings, with remarks from many authors.

Long sought after by collectors, this scarce study is restored here in an affordable modern edition for enthusiasts and breed historians.

This edition features:

• A detailed history of the Mastiff from its earliest origins.
• Examines the breed's development, type and character.
• Draws on rare early sources and illustrations.
• Faithfully republished in a modern edition.
