Steaming into the Broad Gauge

Taking us back to the nuts and bolts of the British steam railways, Steaming into XXX is a fictional take on life on the rails back when the broad gauge was still in place but its existence threatened by the more prolific standard gauge (or 'narrow gauge', as the GWR men might have it).

Henry Denton, father of George, with whom fans of the Steaming Into series will already be familiar, is just starting out in his own career - leaving the family farm behind in exchange for a life on the footplate.

From a wet-behind-the ears cleaner who has just left home, to fireman, and onwards to a married man and top link driver, Henry's adventures and experiences may be the work of fiction but are based firmly on fact.
