Dark Horse: Book Two of Darkness Rises, a British Vampire Horror Series

The darkness never really left.

Six months after the terrifying events that turned her world upside down, paramedic Lucy Barker is doing her best to move on. New shifts, new routines, and a determined effort to pretend that the things she saw, and the things she did, belong to someone else's life. It's working. Almost.

Then a stranger appears in the shadows of a York cinema, and everything she's tried to bury comes flooding back.

A new vampire has arrived in the city. Charming, dangerous, and carrying secrets that stretch back over a century, he brings with him a version of events that casts the one person Lucy thought she could trust in a very different light. As bodies begin to appear on the streets of York and the fragile peace of the city fractures, Lucy finds herself caught between two immortal men with a history she is only beginning to understand, and a past that may be far darker than either of them has let on.

Dark Horse is the gripping second novel in Paul Stephenson's vampire series Darkness Rises: atmospheric, propulsive, and set against the brooding backdrop of one of England's most storied cities. For fans who like their urban fantasy as dark as the night, and their heroines tougher than they look.

Some histories are better left buried. Some questions, once asked, cannot be unasked.
