Luckiest Dead Man Alive

What if the moment everything stopped... Was the moment life truly began?
This is a true near-death experience story about life, death, and what really matters.

The Luckiest Dead Man Alive is a powerful, funny, and deeply human true story that follows Richard Green's journey from a working-class childhood in Birmingham to a life shaped by music, chaos, near-misses... and ultimately, a life-changing near-death experience in New York.

Growing up in the 1970s, Richard finds escape, identity and inspiration through music, especially the unmistakable influence of David Bowie. Through the highs of youth, the madness of adulthood, and a string of unpredictable twists and turns, his life becomes a mix of humour, heartbreak, risk-taking, and raw, unfiltered living.

Then everything changes in an instant.

Pronounced dead after a morphine overdose, Richard experiences something few people ever come back from.

What follows isn't just survival - it's awakening.

A shift in perspective so profound it strips away ego, fear, and everything that once seemed important... and replaces it with something far simpler and far more real.

Told in a straight-talking, conversational voice, this memoir blends nostalgia, music culture, mental health reflection, and real-life storytelling into a journey that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

This is not just a story about dying.

It's a story about waking up.
Letting go.
And finally, learning how to live.

If you've ever questioned life, chased meaning, or wondered what really matters... this book will stay with you long after the final page.

Because the moments that change us most...
are the ones we never plan.
