Malinin & Burenin Collection of Arithmetic Problems: 3,807 Problems with Complete Answer Key - The C

A classic arithmetic course, in English for the first time - complete and unabridged.

For half a century, Malinin and Burenin's Arithmetic was one of the standard arithmetic textbooks of the classical gymnasium - a model of rigor, order, and clarity. This edition is a complete, faithful English translation, with modern typesetting that preserves every definition, rule, worked example, and problem of the original.

What it covers, systematically:
- Numeration, and the Roman and Slavonic systems of writing numbers
- The four operations on whole numbers, with the reasoning behind each rule
- Named (concrete) numbers and the historical system of measures
- Divisibility, prime numbers, and the greatest common divisor
- Common fractions and decimal fractions, in full
- Continued fractions
- Ratios, proportions, and the rule of three (simple and compound)

Why this edition: the mathematics is developed the old way - every rule is derived and justified, not merely stated - which is what makes the book valuable to teachers, homeschoolers, and anyone who wants to understand arithmetic rather than just perform it. The original figures are faithfully reproduced as clean vector drawings, and the text has been carefully verified against the original.
