Case Against Christian Nationalism

Why "Taking America Back for God" Is Betraying Jesus, Breaking the Nation, and Fueling Project 2025

In churches across America, millions of sincere Christians are being sold a political project in Jesus' name that looks nothing like Jesus. This book is for you if you feel that uneasy tug in the pew-and refuse to ignore it anymore.

If "take America back for God" doesn't sound like the Sermon on the Mount...this book will show you why.

What this book will help you do:

• • Tell the difference between Christian faith and Christian nationalism
  • Learn why Christian nationalism is a political ideology, not a denomination, and how it fuses a particular brand of white, conservative Protestantism with American identity, law, and power.
  • Meet Marcus in the pew-and see your own questions in his
  • Walk with Marcus, a composite character who has absorbed years of Christian nationalist messaging, as he slowly realizes that the Jesus he meets in the Gospels does not match the Jesus invoked from his pulpit.

This book is for you if...

• • You love Jesus and your country-but refuse to confuse the cross with a flag.
  • You've watched people you care about swept into "take America back for God" rhetoric and don't know how to talk with them without blowing up the relationship.
  • You're a pastor, lay leader, or concerned Christian who senses that something is deeply off when following Jesus is equated with voting a straight party line.
  • You're outside the church and want to understand why Christian nationalism is not the same thing as Christianity-and why many Christians are fighting it from within.

What you'll walk away with

• • A clear, non-defensive way to explain what Christian nationalism is-and isn't.
  • A Jesus-centered framework you can use in every election, every policy fight, every church debate.
  • Language and stories to open honest conversations with friends and family caught in the Christian nationalist tide.
  • Courage to choose Jesus over tribe when the two point in opposite directions.

If you've ever looked at a political movement wrapped in Bible verses and wondered, Does this actually look like Jesus?-this book will help you finally answer that question, and act on the answer.
