Dear Jesus: I'm Coming Home

What happens when society causes a young woman to reach her breaking point? Will she sink or swim? She'll swim, of course. But she'll do so in waters of her own making.

Had I known what God initially had in store for me when I picked up my life to move nearly halfway across the country to Chicago, IL, I probably wouldn't have left D.C. Growing in my faith and becoming who God designed me to be has cost me everything this world teaches us to value: relationships; security and comfort; a job that I thought was meant for me. But in losing what I thought was everything, God continued to provide me with so much more: the deepest forms of healing, self-worth and love, immeasurable hope, and the peace, light, and grace necessary to navigate the most stunningly personal betrayal I never could have imagined experiencing in my life, as is laid bare in the climax of this story.

No matter how crushing life can feel at times, when we carry out Jesus's command to see and love each other as He does, healing that surpasses understanding can take place, and we can truly change the world.
