It's October in Saugatuck, and everyone is hiding something.

Desperate to keep the family jewelry business viable, Veronica Simon has designed a line of expensive rings with rare gems not normally found in this resort town. Her identity as the creative genius is a well-kept secret and part of the shop's allure for customers. Cal's hunt leads him to SIMON's and the ring Vero has designed for herself. Sparks fly between them, but in the end, Cal buys Vero's ring.

When Genevieve fails to appear for her own engagement party, Cal becomes the principal suspect in her disappearance and Vero his only alibi. Forced to work together to save each other's reputation, Cal and Vero fight their growing attraction until a break-in at Vero's apartment forces one more encounter and the sparks become a conflagration.
